UK Immigration Changes: New Start-up and Innovator Visas

The most prominent visa category for overseas investors who would like to settle in the UK has been changed and amended in order to avoid and control source of investment funds of the applicants.

Last week, UK government announced several reforms to the Tier 1 (Investor) route.

The following changes applies:

  • Overseas Investors require to provide evidence that they have been in control of the investment funds for at least last 2 years, rather than 90 days, or provide evidence of the source of funds


  • UK banks must confirm that necessary checks have been done before opening an investment account for overseas investor


  • Clear and precise of the rules regarding investment in companies


  • Investments does not include government bonds.
