The UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak unveiled the contents of his Budget in the House of Commons for 2021, which includes new uk immigration routes for companies and employees. New UK Immigration Routes hopefully will enable the UK to attract more skilled and talented workers (mainly in academia, science, research and technology), who will be able to support UK jobs, growth and drive innovation. Some of the main UK Immigration Route changes are listed below:
The government plans to reform the current Global Talent visa route to make winners of scholarships and early promise programs and holders of international prizes to automatically qualify for the Global Talent Visa route.
The recently published budget confirms that the new immigration category will be called the Global Business Mobility Visa and will be launched by Spring 2022. This visa route will be designed specifically for overseas businesses that wish to establish a presence in the UK, or transfer staff. The new visa route might replace the existing Sole Representative of an Overseas Business visa or stay alongside.
New ‘Elite’ points-based visa will be launched by March 2022 as a part of Governments agenda to modernise the UK’s immigration system. The new route will enable highly skilled migrants with a job offer from high-growth business to automatically qualify for an Elite visa. There will be no need to have a sponsorship or any other third party endorsement. As the aim of the new route is to enable cyber firms and financial technology companies to attract talent from overseas, the visa applicants will need a job offer that suits the criteria.
The Innovator Visa will be reviewed to make it easier for those with the skills and experience to establish an innovative business in the UK and obtain the Visa.
